Are You Courageous To Be Fearless?
2 Peter 3:9
Thesis: God accepts all who fear him.
Introduction:
1. Does fear plague your mind?
2. How do you handle fear? (Hopefully, we wouldn't do what the Gibeonites did.)
Discussion:
Let us consider...
I. The story.
The Gibeonites…
A. Heard about Israel’s God (Josh. 9:10).
B. Feared destruction (Josh. 9:2-3, 6; Ex. 13; Num. 21:24-35; Deut. 2:30-3:7)
C. Sought a relationship with Israel (Josh. 9:15).
II. Lessons learned.
A. We have patched-up faith—ignorant of God’s will.
B. We have patched-up families—focused on anything but God's plan.
C. We have patched-up fellowship—clique-ish among God's people.
III. APPLYING THE TRUTHS.
A. Seek God’s counsel (Josh. 9:14).
B. Work out God’s plan (Gen. 28:15).
C. Help others find salvation (Josh. 9:26).
Conclusion:
1. Sometimes we can be governed by fear.
2. We need to live right even when others don’t.
