Are You Courageous To Take A Stand?

Joshua 2

Text: 1 Peter 3:13-15

Thesis: To encourage Christians to take a stand.

Introduction:

1. What do you now about Rahab? She was a harlot.

2. There are other biblical facts that make Rahab an interesting Bible Character.

-She's known for her faith (Heb. 11:31) and works (James 2:25).

-Also manufactured and dyed linen

-Great-grandmother to King David (Matthew 1:5)

-Rabbinic tradition says that she was very beautiful, and that she was an             ancestor to 8 prophets.

Discussion:

I. Rahab's Story (vv. 1-7)

A prostitute- Why? 2 reasons:

1. She wouldn't have questioned them; and

2. She made a place for strangers.

II. Rahab's Faith (vv. 8-24)

A. Be aware of your surroundings (vv. 9-10)

B. Make your decision ahead of time (vv. 4, 6)

C. Align yourself with God's people and his ways (vv. 11-24)

Conclusion:

1. Rahab exhibited great faith.

2. We can learn from her example, and we should take a stand for what is right.
