“God Is Calling the Prodigal”
Luke 15:11-32

Thesis: To show Jesus’ concern for those who have left.

Introduction:

1. Are you satisfied with your life or do you want more? You may know of someone
who is seeking more?
2. Jesus describes a man who searched for more, but came to appreciate what he had.

Discussion:

Let us consider…

I. An illustration Jesus shared.
A. Jesus teaches about reaching the lost (sheep, coin and sons).
B. There are two sons, both of whom are selfishly lost.

II. Principles that Jesus emphasized.
A. People become lost (Gal. 6:1).
B. Jesus cares about the lost (Lk. 19:10).
C. We need to care about the lost (Lk. 15:7, 9-10, 22-23).
D. We need to help others come to Jesus (Mt. 18:15-18).

III. Lessons that Jesus taught.
A. Some people are in the world living the good life (Lk. 15:13) but are suffering
physical and economic hardships (Lk. 15:14-16).
B. Some people are in the world desiring to come to Jesus (Lk. 15:17-19) but will
remain unaffected until they first make their move (Lk. 15:20).
C. Some people are in the church, but are lost because of a critical attitude (Lk. 15:12,
28-30).

Conclusion:

1. Jesus offers a better life.
2. Only those who give their all to Jesus will be blessed (Mt. 11:28-30).
